Source of Finance
The average monthly expenses of both the boys’ and girls’ sections are approximately Rs. 1,50,000.00 (about US $ 3,400.00)each. The expenses are being met from voluntary donations for the most part. A meager annual grant is receivable from the Government, but, more often than not, the amount allocated by the Government is not fully released.
Every year, during the winter, a number of shopkeepers and traders organise a Winter Market within the grounds of the Boys’ Orphanage. A major source of income is the donations received from the shopkeepers.
The Society also raises some funds by collecting skins of sacrificial animals at Eid Al Adha and selling them to the highest bidder.
Separate accounts are kept for the Boys’ [Dar-ul-Shafqat Shahjehani] and the Girls’ [Bilquisia Nursing Home] sections as well as for the Dar-ul-Shafqat Society’s General Fund and audited reports of each of these accounts are available for inspection at the Society’s office.
